IV Black Sea Economic Forum

 
Black Sea Economic Forum is a high-level annual platform for a dialogue among the leading government and business stakeholders, and leading experts, which holds by an initiative of the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
 
This year's Forum will be focused on investment climate promotion, economic development and competitive growth of the region and Crimea as a whole. Forum will take place on 24-25 of October in Livadia palace.
 
Agenda of the Forum contain different issues about economic development of the Black Sea countries, international investment cooperation, agriculture, tourist sphere, as well as experience exchange in effective regional management practices.
 
The Forum will be a good discussion platform for leading governors of Black Sea region, representatives of EU, international experts in investment sphere, potential investors.
 
The event is an ongoing mechanism helping Crimea and Ukraine realize their leadership potential in the Black Sea region. Initiating the dialogue on the most relevant issues of economic cooperation, the Forum is aimed at discovering new horizons and business opportunities for Ukrainian and multinational businesses with interests in Crimea and the Black Sea region.
 
The Forum attracted more than 700 participants from 30 countries in three years.
 
I Black Sea Economic Forum taken place on November of 2010 and was visited by more than 250 representatives of governmental and business circles, experts from Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Greece, Moldova, Bulgaria and Romania. Also main speakers of the Forum were: 
  • Nihat Ergun, Minister of Economic and Industry of Turkey;
  • Natik Aliev, Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan;
  • Mikhail Djanelidze, Chairman of International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia;
  • Dancho Simeonov, Governor of Verner region of Bolgaria;
  • Konstantin Grebenarov, Governor of Burgass region of Bolgaria;
  • Olive Adam, Coordinator of UN in Ukraine;
  • Jose Manuel Pintu Teysheyra, Head of European Commission in Ukraine;
  • Gvendolin F. Garcia, Governor of Sebu province of Philippines, Chairman of East-Asia Tourist Forum (Vatfax);
  • Elena Voloshina, Head of International Financial Corporation in Ukraine;
  • Olga Bakhmatyuk, Chairman of the AVANGARDCO IPL Board;
  • Roman Shpek, Senior Adviser of Alfa-bank.
Program of the Forum was focused on actual issues of economic and political potentials and role of Black Sea region, as well as opportunities of cooperation in key spheres and projects, including transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture, resort and spa activities and tourism, ecological recourses of Black Sea.
 
In 2011 the Forum brought together more than 250 guests from Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Greece, Moldova, Romania, as well as representatives of Asia and Latin America in Livadia palace. Main speakers of the Forum were:
  • Boris Kolesnikov, Vice-Prime-Minister of Ukraine and a Minister of infrastructure;
  • Anatoliy Bliznyuk, Minister of regional development, construction and housing and public utilities of Ukraine;
  • Nikolay Prisyazhnyuk, Minister of agriculture and food of Ukraine;
  • Archil Kekeya, First Deputy Minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia;
  • James Wilson, director of Business Board Ukraine – UE;
  • Rachel Zimba, director of microanalyses of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, Roubini Global Economics;
  • Dario Marketti, Director general of "Danone Ukraine";
  • Oleg Ustenko, Managing Director, The Bleyzer Foundation.
 
Last year the Forum was visited by more than 200 state officials, experts and business leaders from 21 countries including Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, the USA, etc. Leading speakers were:

  • Pavel Sharemeta, CEO and DG of Blue Ocean Strategy Institute of Eastern Europe and Central Asia;
  • Georgiy Pertaya, First Deputy Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency.
 
Visitors of the III Black Sea Economic Forum headed "Competitive growth of Black Sea region: activity coordination and mutual projects" discussed strategic location of the region in global economy; aspects of effective trade policy; financial instruments for agriculture complex and food industry; ongoing energy policy, and municipal authority role in tourist sphere development of regions.
